National Gallery London
Trafalgar Square, London 020 7747 2580
It’s not everyday you have the chance to view one of the world’s greatest collections of European painting for free. Well there is actually, but you’d need to live in London to do it. Paintings ranging from 1250 to 1900, and include work by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Gainsborough, Turner, Cezanne and Van Gogh alongside lesser knowns.
Rather than shuffle along behind a tour guide, take one of the audio-guided tours and stroll at your own pace. The National Gallery allows you to create your own tour, choosing the works you like, and pass the ones your keen eye deems as complete rubbish.
Free entry. Donations are requested and appreciated.
