British Museum
Great Russell Street Near Tottenham Court Tube, London 020 7323 8299
The British Museum is the oldest museum in the world. In fact, it is so old someone should really put it in a museum. Built in 1793, it contains nearly 100 galleries, thousands of artifacts, and millions of years of history from all corners of the globe. Highlights include the Elgin Marbles (from the Parthenon in Athens), the Rosetta Stone, and for those who still have blank looks on their faces, a fantastic collection of Egyptian mummies and coffins.
Entry to the Museum is free, although some special exhibitions have an admission charge.
