London Eye
Jubilee Gardens London 0870 500 0600
Opened in 2000, The British Airways London Eye is now one of London's most recognizable and popular landmarks. Considering The Eye was initially developed as a bit of fun for a couple of years until people became bored of it, everyone involved is quite chuffed with the continued appeal. Spinning, or as they like to call it, flying, in a capsule at up to 135 metres high for 30 minutes, you can see 40 kilometres in all directions with views over 55 of London's most famous landmarks including St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, even Windsor Castle.
On arrival, the lines may look daunting, however, they steadily move as people jump on and off whilst the Eye keeps spinning. Don’t worry, the assistants have placed more than 30 million bottoms on seats, and despite the occasional temptation, they haven’t managed to miss yet. There are packages available for those who want to fast track the queues, take a champagne flight, snuggle up in a Cupid Capsule, or even sit with a man who points at things and waffles on about them in French.
